DataShed5 is a browser-based application that allows users to view and visualise data stored within the Maxwell Data Schema. The DataShed5 interface has been designed to be as intuitive as possible, and most users should need very little instruction in order to use the basic functions.

In this presentation we will discuss exporting data in DataShed5.

Export Data
The Export Data option allows users to export data for use with other software programs.
The exports are available in three formats, Table, Layout and Scheme.
Any DataSets selected, filters applied and column display options will be reflected in the exported data.
Table format exports data directly from the database tables or views. The All Columns tick box overrides the column display options. The exported files can be in comma delimited or Microsoft Excel format.
Layout format allows exports of tables or views to be customised. For example export only selected columns or using custom column headers. The exported files can be in comma delimited, fixed width, Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel format.
Users can create Layouts by selecting the New option in the Layout/Scheme dropdown. The Export Layout Editor allows selection of the columns required and custom column names. Layouts can be shared with other users and will appear named with a # prefix.
Scheme format allows multiple Layouts to be exported in a single file or group of files. The exported files can be in comma delimited, fixed width, Microsoft Access or Microsoft Excel format.
Users can create Schemes by selecting the New option in the Layout/Scheme dropdown. The Export Scheme Editor allows selection of the export file type, Layouts required and destination table name. Schemes can be shared with other users and will appear named with a # prefix.
When exporting using a Layout or Scheme the Validate option is provided to allow checking of the export to ensure the configuration is still correct.
The Setting option allows users to export data in CSV format with or without single quotes around the data.
There is no timeout on exports so can export large data tables or views.
DataShed5 Administrators can schedule regular exports within the Admin module.
