DataShed5 is a browser-based application that allows users to view and visualise data stored within the Maxwell Data Schema. The DataShed5 interface has been designed to be as intuitive as possible, and most users should need very little instruction in order to use the basic functions.

In this presentation we will discuss viewing data in the Data Grids in DataShed5.

View Data
The View Data option shows the data tables/views grouped into modules. The list of visible items may vary depending on your level of access and can be customised by the DataShed5 Administrator.
Choosing a table/view will display the data from it with any active DataSets or filters applied.
The data grid header contains the following:
Refresh is used to update the grid.
Sort allows users to customise the sorting of data displayed by dragging the required sort field to the Sort Fields panel.
Display allows users to customise the data grid to show only the columns required and in the desired order by selecting them and choosing SAVE.
The Filter menu option allows users to create, edit, delete and make active filters to apply to the displayed grid. Filters are listed under the table name on the module select list and the filter definition shows in green across the top of the grid title bar. Filters can be shared with other users and will appear named with a # prefix.
Users with elevated permissions can use the Plus icon to add a data row to the table. Required fields are highlighted in red. The Delete icon allows users to delete a data row.
The Download icon allows users to export the data visible to a CSV or Excel format file on their computer.
The Search Bar will highlight in the grid any text entered.
A right mouse click contextual menu on the column header shows Sort Ascending/Descending which will order the grid by the data in the chosen column. The Group By This Column option allows users to create expandable lists. The column header can also be dragged to the Group By section of the grid heading. Find and Replace allows users with elevated permissions to search the displayed data for selected value and replace with a chosen value.
The search panel below allows users to search for text or number using six different criteria.
Data grids can be navigated by using the mouse scroll wheel, the scroll bars and the single page or start/end arrows on the bottom of the screen.
