DataShed5 is a browser-based application that allows users to view and visualise data stored within the Maxwell Data Schema. The DataShed5 interface has been designed to be as intuitive as possible, and most users should need very little instruction in order to use the basic functions.

In this presentation we will discuss using the Assay Manager in DataShed5.

Assay Manager
The Assay Manager allows users to view assay batch details and results.
The options available and Items visible depends on user security level.

The filters across the top allow users to display the batches they require.
The Batch Status is assigned to a batch on import dependent on whether it passes or fails the pre-determined assigned QC rules. The status includes the following:
•	Accepted: when all QC Rules pass.
•	Queried: when one or more rules but not all rules fail.
•	QC not Applied: when no QC Policy is assigned to a batch, no QC rules will be applied the batch.
•	Rejected: when all QC Rules fail.
•	Unmerged: If a batch has unmerged data, the assay load will fail and QC rules will not be applied.

The Download batch List allows you to download the data showing in the Batch List screen in Excel format.
The Process Batches button will Import, Merge and Rank all the batches showing in the Batch List
You can process individual batches using circular arrow icon next to Batch No in the list.
The Unmerged Assay Results will show details of any assay results that cannot be merged and the reason, such as no sample number match.
The Assay Batch Header screen show details of the batch including Lab, Dispatch Number, Dates, Import layout used and sample counts.
The Assay Batch Detail screen show details of the batch including Lab assay methods, the element assayed, upper and lower assay ranges and units used.
The QC Results screen shows the status of the QC Rules applied to the batch. This shows whether a rule has passed or failed and why. A QC status of NoData means no standards are included in the batch.
The Batch Approval screen is where DataShed5 SysAdmin users can approve or reject a batch. To do so you click on the tick on the LH column. Once approved a batch will be reranked and emails sent to any users in the Email list showing the results of the QC Results screen.

QC Rules Configuration
QC rules are the quality control rules applied to assays in a batch to ensure that the sampling and assay process is accurate. The DataShed5 SysAdmin users can create and edit the rules.
Rules can be built for Standards/Blanks/Repeats and Screen Test.
DataShed5 comes with a set of standard rules for gold that can be used as a template to create other rules. The rules define what determines if the assay value will pass or fail. The options include which element is being tested, whether to use the expected reference value or use the expected min/max values along with number of standard deviations and options for Below Detection Limit and Over Range limits that can be excluded from the rule. If data not found in configuration, it will show “missing Reference Value” and the rule will fail.
Once the rules are created you create QC Policy and add the rules to it.
Then you apply the QC Policy to an Import Layout noting can apply same policy to multiple layouts
QC Emails will notify recipients with an email showing QC results details.

Library Tables
The Library Tables option allows DataShed5 SYSAdmin and UserPlus users to add/edit QC Reference data –along with labs/elements/methods/units etc.

Assay Configuration
The Assay Configuration allows DataShed5 SysAdmin users to create and edit the attributes for elements to be populated in tblAssayFlat in the RH Norm section.
