# DataSet Manager

In DataShed5, data is grouped together as DataSets. DataSets are located in a hierarchal system of Project Folders. A DataSet may contain data for a particular country, state, project, prospect, exploration program or pit etc.

## **Selecting DataSets**

To view any data or information in DataShed5 you must select one or more DataSets.

- Click on **DataSet Manager** to display the list of available Projects & associated DataSets
- Select the DataSets by selecting the tickbox next to the DataSet name in the list.
- To select all the DataSets within a project, select the tickbox next to the Project name.
- To remove a Project/DataSet from the selection, deselect the tickbox next to the Project/DataSet.

**NOTE: If no DataSets are showing in the tree, contact your DataShed5 Administrator so that the relevant DataSets can be assigned to you.**

## **Save DataSet selection**

- To save a selection of DataSets, first select the appropriate DataSets. These DataSets can be from any project and in any order.
- Type a name in the **Save Selection As:** box and click on the **Save** button.
- Enter the details for the DataSet selection into the form and save.

The DataSets in this selection will appear checked in the Selcted DataSets window below. Any DataSet or DataSet selection that was previously selected will be automatically deselected.

# View Data

##  Opening a Table

When the **View Data** option is selected a list of modules will appear. The list may vary depending on your level of access. Clicking on a module will display a list of tables.

The data visible is based on the DataSet(s) selected and tables with Read-Only permissions will be stated as such.

Only one table can be visible per browser window but opening another browser window can allow another table to be viewed. Currently a different browser will be required for each session (ie Chrome, Edge, etc).

## Viewing/Editing Data

Selecting a table/view within a module will display the data from it in the grid with any active filters applied.

Depending on your level of access the grid may be editable or read only.
Clicking into a cell will allow data to be entered, edited, or deleted.

**Export **allows you to export the data visible in the grid in a CSV or Excel format file. Any filters or display options applied will define the data downloaded.

**Refresh** can be used to update the grid.

**Sort** allows you to customise the sorting of data displayed in the grid. eg changing the Sort to Hole_Type lists the data ordered by the Hole_Type rather than the default Hole_ID.

**Display** allows you to customise the data grid to show only the columns you require. By default, all columns are displayed. The columns required can be selected and their order can be changed. Any changes to the table format that are made, such as moving or sorting columns, are saved to the user account.

**Filter** allows you to create/edit/delete/enable filters without leaving the Data grid. Filters applied are shown under the table name on the LHS list and across the top of the grid title bar.

**Plus (+) **allows a new row to be entered. Required fields will be highlighted in **red**.
**Delete (trash can)** deletes the data rows with the checkbox ticked.

Right click on the column header and a contextual menu appears.
**Sort Ascending/Descending** will order the data grid by the data in the selected column.
**Group by This Column** allows you to create expandable lists. eg Group by Hole_Type displays a list of Hole types and each can be expanded or collapsed. You can also drag the column header to the Group By section.
**Find and Replace** allows a value to be replaced by another. The changes are made only to the data displayed.

The arrows on the bottom LHS of the screen allow moving by single page or to start/end.

## Filtering Data

Filters are used to display relevant data. They can be applied using many criteria such as an item ‘equals’, ‘is less than’ and ‘is one of’.  They can be applied to a single table or multiple tables of type (cascade)

Cascade filters apply to all tables of a particular type. The types are Contract, Downhole, Face, Linear and Point. They are applied to the header table of each type (eg DH – DownHole, PT – Point).

To create a cascade filter, click on **Cascade Filters** in the side menu.

To apply a filter to a single table, click on the Filter option from the top row icons and choose **New Filter**.

 **NOTE:**

·       **Filters that are created are saved to the user account.**

·       **Shared Filters have a # before the name and are available to all DataShed5 users.**

·       **Shared filters can only be edited or deleted by the creator**

·       **Filters can be edited.**

·       **Filters remain active when closing the table or exiting DataShed5.**

·       **The filter will apply to data exported through the export option.**

** **

**Filter Designer**

The filtering criteria are specified in the Filter Designer screen.

To set a filter:

Give the filter a **Name**. If no name is supplied, it will be saved as ‘Unnamed Filter’

If **Share Filter** ticked the filter will show with a # prefix and be available to all users

- Select the **Column** to which the filter is to be applied.
- From the **Select Criteria** drop down list choose a criteria.
- Enter the value for the filter.
- Click on the **Add Criteria** box.
- Filters can be nested with AND & OR options eg Hole_Type = ‘RC’ AND Max_Depth > ‘100’
- Click **Activate Filter** to save and apply the filter.
