Create a New Desurvey Package

To access the desurveying module first you need to select the Desurveying menu item. Next, Click New Desurvey Package button.

Once you have created a new package you will need to:

1. Enter a package name.
2. Enter a description of the package. (Do not use commas in the package description)
3. Select a method to determine the desurveying.
4. Select a table from the Collar Table dropdown list.
5. Select the downhole survey table from the Survey Table dropdown list.
6. Select the Method from the Method drop down list.
7. Choose when to use Negative Dip Values or not.

Once mandatory fields have been entered, click Next to progress with the set up.

**Please Note:** Mandatory fields are Package Name, Collar Table and Survey Table

Compulsory Tables Setup

For the desurveying package to calculate results, the collar and survey tables must be defined.

Fields in azure color are the fields from which data is obtained to desurvey the hole.

Fields in white are the fields you need you select to populate

1. Select the collar table from the Collar Table drop down list.
2. Choose the coordinate fields to base the desurvey algorithm on. All coordinate fields should be in the same grid.
3. Select the downhole survey table from the Survey Table drop down list.
4. Ensure that the Azimuth selected is the same grid as the collar coordinates.

Once compulsory tables are setup, the desurvey package can be saved OR the other tables can be added:

Other Tables Setup


Once you have configured your Collar and Survey table, any other downhole table which contains a ‘from’ and ‘to’ field can be configured so that the table can be populated with de-surveyed coordinates.


First the X, Y, Z and Grid_Id fields must be added to the appropriate table in the backend prior to the desurveying package being configured.

To add a new table, select table from the Table Name drop down list, then click + icon button.

From there you will need to populate the remining fields for the selected table as required. 

Once you have configured any additional table, click the save button to save the package to the database.

You can delete a table by selecting the table from the package by selecting it from the bottom list and clicking the ‘Delete’ trash can option.

Processing Desurvey Package

To process the Desurvey Package, first validate the package. This will check that all the fields selected exist in the tables. Simply click the “Validate” button.

A validation popup will show the validation progress.

If the validation is successful, you can now click the “Proceed” button to run the Desurvey Package and populate the selected fields.
