[00:00:05] Welcome to this training session on using Sample Sleuth in DataShed5.
[00:00:10]        In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to access your data, navigate dashboards, apply filters, and interpret key metrics across the sample processing workflow.
[00:00:21]   You’ll learn how to monitor data quality, track progress, and spot potential bottlenecks—helping you streamline operations and improve efficiency.
[00:00:31]   Let’s get started!
[00:00:32]   To begin, open DataShed5 and click on Dashboards.
[00:00:37] Then select Power BI, and choose Sample Sleuth from the list of reports.
[00:00:42] Once the dashboard loads, click on Summary to open the main view. This is where your data journey begins.
[00:00:52] At the top of the dashboard, you’ll find three primary filters: Source Table, Lab Code, and Batch Number.
[00:01:04] To refine your analysis, click Show Filters to access six additional options:
[00:01:12] DataSet, Prospect, Lease ID, Program Type, Site Type, and Sample Type.
[00:01:25] These allow you to drill deeper into specific data segments.
[00:01:29] To hide the extra filters, simply click Hide Filters.
[00:01:34] The Summary view gives you a high-level snapshot of how samples are progressing through the workflow.
[00:01:40] You can view key processing stages such as:
[00:01:43] Dispatched, Consigned, Lab Received, Preliminary Results, Final Results, and Database Imported.
[00:01:54] Each stage displays the number and percentage of samples that have—or have [00:02:00] not—progressed.
[00:02:03] Use the Display dropdown to toggle how results appear.
[00:02:11] Colour coding makes interpretation easy:
[00:02:15] Red shows bottlenecks or missing data.
[00:02:19] Green signals good progress or completion.
[00:02:23] White or light colours represent balanced or zero values.
[00:02:28] This table is fully interactive—your selections will refresh the view in real time.
[00:02:33] The left hand side shows you how you can group by source, prospect, dataset, lease ID, program type, lab code, site type, or sample type.
[00:02:55] Selections show Sample numbers per prospect, sample numbers per dataset, and so [00:03:00] on.
[00:03:01] The main data table here can be further filtered by making a selection from your total samples chart and the table refreshes in real time.
[00:03:09]
[00:03:12] to return to the previous full table, simply unselect the row.
[00:03:23] Click on Summary by Date to explore how sample processing trends change over time.
[00:03:31] You can adjust the time period using the date slider or by selecting specific start and end dates.
[00:03:43] To drill into more detail, click the plus icon to expand rows in the table.
[00:04:02] Or click a chart column to filter the data by month.
[00:04:08] This view is especially useful for identifying delays or performance patterns across reporting periods.
[00:04:16] Need to locate a specific sample?
[00:04:18] Select the Find Sample tab to view the complete status of individual samples.
[00:04:28] Use filters like Batch Number to narrow your view.
[00:04:34] Then, right-click on any sample to Drill Through to either Sample Details or Batch Details.
[00:04:46] Batch Details provides an overview for all samples in the selected batch, including timestamps and the number of days for key events.
[00:04:58] Sample Details shows the full [00:05:00] timeline of that sample across each processing stage.
[00:05:09] The Compare DH Tables dashboard helps you check data completeness and quality across multiple drill hole tables.
[00:05:16] You can filter by categories like Hole ID, and switch between individual tables or view All Tables at once.
[00:05:27] You can view tables or the Big five tab will show you Alteration, Lithology, Minerals, Veins and Samples.
[00:05:33] Green indicates the table has data that goes to the End of Hole depth.
[00:05:38] Red would indicate there are no entries in that table. The amber would indicate the max depth of data in this particular table.
[00:05:46] Clicking a Test Category on the chart filters the table to show that specific data set.
[00:05:52] Click it again to remove the filter and return to the full view.
[00:05:56] This is especially helpful when managing large datasets from [00:06:00] multiple sources or regions.
[00:06:03] And that’s it!
[00:06:05] With Sample Sleuth, you can easily track sample progress, identify bottlenecks, and ensure data quality across your workflows.
[00:06:14] Whether you're a geologist, lab coordinator, or data manager, these dashboards help you stay in control of your sample data.
[00:06:22] Thanks for watching!
