Welcome to this in-depth training session on the QAQC Dashboard in DataShed5.
In this session, we’ll take you step by step through the dashboard, showing you how to set filters, explore summaries, monitor lab turnaround, track batches, and check QAQC results using the full suite of tools available.

Accessing the Dashboard
To begin, open the QAQC Dashboard.
From the [00:00:30] main menu, go to Dashboards, then General Reports, and select “QAQC – DQ”.
The QAQC Dashboard connects directly to the DataShed5 database using Direct Query.
This ensures your data is always live and up to date.
Please note, however, that charts and tables may take a little longer to load due to the live connection.

Setting Global Filters
Before analysing data, you’ll need to set the Global Filters.
Click the Global Filters button, and follow [00:01:00] these steps:
 1.	Select your Project.
 2.	Choose the Dataset.
 3.	Pick the Source Type.
 4.	Select one or more Lab Codes.
 5.	Set the Date Range.
6.	Choose the Batch or Batches you want to review.
If needed, you can also decide whether to include or exclude related [00:01:30] batches in repeat analyses.
Once you’ve made your selections, click Start Analysis to apply the filters and close the screen.

QAQC Summary
The QAQC Summary page gives you an overview of your data.
Here you’ll find:
•	The total number of batches and samples,
•	Repeats, showing how many batches were re-analysed,
•	Certified Reference Materials, or CRMs, used for calibration and accuracy,
•	Lab Turnaround, showing processing efficiency,
•	[00:02:00] Screen Tests for particle size analysis,
•	And Weights, monitoring sample weight consistency.

The Summary Ratio screen allows you to:
•	Compare lab performance and throughput,
•	Track the use of standards across labs,
•	And evaluate QC category distribution.
You can also view detailed Laboratory Summaries, Standard Type Ratios, and QC Category Ratios.

Batch Summary and QC Results
The Batch Summary [00:02:30] screen provides a consolidated view of batches and samples, including merging status and laboratory coverage.
The QC Results pages focus on Certified Reference Materials and Repeats.
For CRMs, you can:
•	Monitor performance across labs and batches,
•	Identify standards that regularly trigger alerts,
•	And check compliance with thresholds.
Filters are available for element, standard type, batch number, and lab code.
For repeats, you [00:03:00] can track consistency across QC categories, highlighting any areas requiring further investigation.

Repeats Analysis
Repeats are essential for QAQC.
The dashboard provides several methods to assess them.
How repeats are flagged:
•	If the absolute difference between the original and repeat is greater than or equal to 10% of the original, it’s flagged as an Alert.
•	Otherwise, it is considered OK.
Repeats can be viewed by Sample Name, Repeat [00:03:30] Code or by Method, with filters available for element, batch, lab code, and dataset.
Visual tools include:
•	Scatter Plots,
•	Quantile-Quantile Plots,
•	MAPD and AVRD Charts,
•	Horwitz Trumpet Plots,
•	And Thompson-Howarth Plots.
These charts reveal precision, repeatability, and potential bias across your samples.

Statistics and Raw Data
The Statistics section provides two levels of analysis:
•	Overall [00:04:00] descriptive and bivariate statistics,
•	And detailed calculations filtered by dataset, lab code, or QC category.
The Raw Results tables list every sample in one place, allowing you to drill into the underlying data.

Certified Reference Materials and Control Charts
Certified Reference Materials, or CRMs, are central to maintaining accuracy.
The Control Charts track performance over time against expected values, using warning and action limits [00:04:30] to identify deviations.
These charts help you quickly spot trends, confirm processes are in control, and take corrective action when needed.
Additional CRM views include:
•	Performance by Lab Code,
•	Standards by Date,
•	And Bias Results.
Together, these ensure standards are applied consistently and effectively.

Lab Turnaround
The Lab Turnaround section provides insights into how efficiently your laboratory is processing [00:05:00] samples.
It measures:
•	The number of samples submitted,
•	The time taken for analysis,
•	And the overall throughput of the lab.
This data helps you identify bottlenecks, track performance over time, and ensure labs are meeting agreed turnaround targets.

Batch Tracking
The Batch Tracking page allows you to follow the progress of batches through the laboratory workflow.
It provides visibility over:
•	Which batches have been [00:05:30] submitted,
•	Their current status,
•	And whether they have completed analysis or remain in progress.
This section is particularly useful for managing timelines and ensuring that critical batches are prioritised.

Batch Check
The Batch Check page is designed to validate the integrity of your batch data.
It allows you to:
•	Confirm that all expected samples are present,
•	Check for missing or duplicate records,
•	And verify that batch [00:06:00] merging and result entry are complete.
Batch Check is an important QAQC safeguard, ensuring that your dataset is accurate and consistent before moving into deeper analysis.

Screen Tests and Weights
Finally, two supporting tools:
•	Screen Tests use jitter plots and bar charts to display particle size distribution, sample counts by date, and counts by type.
Weights analyse sample weight distribution, highlight outliers, and allow filtering by date, [00:06:30] batch, or lab.
These checks confirm consistency in preparation and processing.

That concludes this detailed walkthrough of the QAQC Dashboard.
By following these steps, you can:
•	Monitor lab turnaround and batch progress,
•	Validate batch data integrity,
•	Track CRMs and repeats for accuracy,
•	And ensure your dataset meets QAQC standards.
The QAQC Dashboard is a powerful tool for oversight and quality assurance, [00:07:00] helping you maintain accuracy, efficiency, and confidence in your laboratory results.
