This guide outlines how to use the Intercept Calculator to generate accurate mineralised intervals from drill hole assay data. It covers setup, configuration, validation, and managing sample data for consistent, report-ready outputs. Ideal for geologists and resource managers, it ensures intercepts align with geological reporting standards and supports efficient data analysis.

This Intercept Calculator is used to define rules for **calculating mineralised intervals (intercepts)** from assay data in drill holes. By setting cutoffs, element filters, and handling of nulls/superseded data, users can generate consistent and reportable intercepts that meet geological or resource reporting criteria (e.g. JORC).

To open the Intercept Calculator, click on **Extensions** menu item, then select "**Intercept Calculator**"

To create a new calculation configuration, click "**New Package**" and complete the form.

Existing packages can be searched by typing in the "**Search**" panel.

An existing package can be accessed by clicking the package name.

### Validating a Package

Click "**Validate**" to check a package configuration  
The "Validation Summary" will be displayed. Click "**Close**" to close this window.

### Running a Package

To run a package, click "**Proceed**"  
When the package has run, the results are displayed. Click the **X** to close this window.  
Intercept results are saved to the "**DH Intercepts**" view found in **View Data>Drilling Management.**

> ⚠️ **NOTE:** Each user who runs a package will create records in the DH Intercepts tables identified by their name and Date/Time. For this reason it is advised that only users who need to, run Intercept Packages.

### Field Definitions

**Data Source**

- **Sample Table:** The source table containing down hole assay data.
- **From Field / To Field:** Define the depth interval for each sample.
- **Element:** The primary element being calculated (in this case, gold).
  **Optional**
- **Co-Element 1–5:** Additional elements (e.g. Cu_ppm, Ag_ppm) included for multi-element analysis or display.  
**Parameters**
- **Minimum Cutoff Grade:** Minimum grade required to include a sample in an interval.
- **Maximum Cutoff Grade:** Maximum upper limit; can be adjusted to exclude extremely high values.
- **Minimum Interval:** Minimum length to report an intercept.
- **Maximum Waste:** Maximum allowable internal dilution (below cutoff).
- **Reported Units:** Unit for output grades.
- **Decimals in Grade / Width:** Number of decimal places in outputs.

**Null Values / Negative Values**

- Defaults to Set to Zero (0.0) for both null and negative values.
- Optionally, users can substitute with a custom value for each element or co-element.

**Configuration**

- **Superseded Field:** Superseded – Field used to mark samples as outdated or replaced.
- **Superseded Field Type:** True/False selected – Interprets the field as boolean.  
**Use SG Weighting:** Tick to weight grades by specific gravity.

**Filter Superseded Samples:** Tick to exclude samples marked as superseded.

**Value if True:** Can define a custom value indicating "true."

**SG Field:** Field used if SG weighting is enabled.

### Saving a Package

Click "**Save**" to save a package configuration.  
A "Package saved successfully." message will be displayed

### Copy a Package

An existing package can be copied by 

- clicking the "**Copy**" icon
- Then entering a new package name.
- and click "**Save**"
- The new package will display in the Package List.

### Deleting a Package

Deleting a package can be done by 

- clicking the **Trash** icon
- Then confirming with "**Yes**"
- A message will confirm the package has been deleted.

### Rename a Package

An existing Package can be renamed by 

- clicking the "**Rename**" icon
- Type the new package name and click "**Save**"
- The package name changes in the Package List and a "**Success**" message is displayed.
