### This guide walks you through setting up and customising your own Power BI report using the mxAPI template—loading data with your datashed API key and applying targeted query transformations.

Once you have create a custom report and would like it displayed in DataShed5 please contact our service desk to assist you.

> 📝 You will need to create a [mxAPI key](https://servicedesk.maxgeo.com/space/mxAPI/1797455873/dsCONNECT+Licensing+and+User+Requirements#Licensing) first before following the steps below. We recommend setting up a service user in DataShed5 Admin with an API key for this report so it will not linked to your personal user.

### Initial Configuration

Locate and open the "**mxAPI_Template.pbit"** file in Power BI Desktop.

**Enter your DataShed5 API Key and URL (mxAPI Key) below**  
Copy the API Key from DataShed5 Admin and paste it into the field, then click **Edit**.

> ⚠️ Each client has a unique API URL. To use the mxAPI connection, you must enter their organisation’s specific API endpoint.

Click **Edit** to open the data editor and apply transformations (e.g., filtering, renaming columns, or formatting).

# Query Transformation

From the Queries list on the left, click **tblDHCol** to continue.

On the right, under Applied Steps, click **Source** to view the original query.

In the formula bar, update the **QueryFilter** to select the dataset you want to load.

Finally, in the Applied Steps pane, select **Add key** to view the completed dataset.

Click "**Close & Apply**" to apply your changes and refresh the report with the updated data.

Use the tabs at the bottom to switch between report pages (e.g., Overall, Drillholes, DH Samples).
