<u>**Problem:**</u>

1. When I try to open it, I generate the error: "An app on your PC needs the following Windows feature: .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0" - refer **Cause 1** (for non-IT people) and **Solution 1** for everyone else.
2. It opens, but it does not have my Report Templates
3. The Viewer opens and has my Report Templates however when I try to open a Report Template:
  - I get an error "Invalid column name X" (whereby X is field name) - refer **Cause 3**.

<u>**Troubleshooting:**</u>

<u>**Cause:**</u>

1. The Reporter tool that comes standard with your LeaseControl requires .NET 3.5 (although the balance of LeaseControl will run happily wihtout it). The need to enable .NET 3.5 is most common with Windows8 (which comes with a variety of .NET Frameworks including 3.5 - however 3.5 is not *enabled*, but is very easy to do! Refer **Solution 1** for instructions, noting **Additional Info** assists you figuring out your Windows operating platform if necessary.
2. The Reporter Tool may be mapped to the wrong database.  <u>Explanation</u>: LeaseControl is designed to enable multiple databases to be run from a single application.  However, it would be very inconvenient if you had to duplicate the Report Templates on a 'per database' basis.  Therefore, you direct LeaseControl to use 1 database for Report Templates.  In this instance, the nominated database is not the one you were expecting.  Refer **Solution 2**.
3. Some field names and library items can be edited by the user.  In this case, one of those edited is used by the Report Template and now the system doesn't know what the new value is but it's very easy to resolve - refer **Solution 3**.

<u>**Solution:**</u>

1. If the workstation is Windows8, Windows 8.1 and Windows10:
  - Go to 'Windows Features' (available from Control Panel) and scroll down to ".NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and .NET 3.0)".
  - Click on the box and it will contain a black box noting that you do not have to select the 2 children.
  - Click [OK] and restart your computer if prompted.
  - If .NET 3.5 is not listed, you will need to download it - please ensure that you obtain it from a safe source (e.g. direct from Microsoft updates) and that you ensure the download is specific to your Windows operating system.
2. For this you will need the administrator password.  The best instructions are located within the HelpManual (available by going to the Help menu in the tool bar of LeaseControl and selecting "HelpManual") under "Customising LeaseControl": "Database Management": "Enable/Disable Links to Database" with the following amendment:
  - Where you are instructed to go to the Settings menu and select "Database Management" etc. change this to: Select "System Functions" from the Settings menu.  This will required the administrator password.  This will open a new window.
  - Toward the bottom of the window on the left hand side, you will see reference to "Reporter Database".  You can switch between databases using the dropdown menu.
  - If you need to establish a new connection, delete or edit an existing one, or find out which database is which - click on the [...] button and follow the instructions in the HelpManual from this screen onwards.  This and the subsequent window operates exactly the same as the one referenced in the HelpManual.
3. You need to open the Report Template in the Designer and select the new values. If you're unsure of what you're doing, you may want to look at the following articles that each relate to specific template:

<u>**Additional Info:**</u>

- <u>*What is my Windows version / operating system?*</u>  Go to 'System' from Control Panel.  The relevant information is ordinarily:
  - The "Windows Edition" (e.g. Windows 10 Enterprise)
  - The "System Type" located under "System" (e.g. 64-bit Operating System)
- <u>*What is my administrator password?*</u>  Oooh... we can't tell you this one.  However.  If no one in your company knows what it is, and you need to reset it, simply contact us at servicedesk.maxgeo.com for the script and instructions.  The default is **password** noting it is case-sensitive.  Please be advised we do not police who can request the password reset script.  This comes down to company policy and practice.  Security can be managed within the company through restricting the ability to run SQL scripts.
