**Symptom:**

1. When I try to open the LeaseControl Importer from within LeaseControl (Tools > Import) the following error is returned:
 1. "Importer has not been installed. Please install it to its default directory." - start at **Troubleshooting 1**.

**Troubleshooting:**

1. Check the computers applications to confirm it is (still) installed on the computer (refer **Additional Info** if you need help with this) - you are looking for MAXGeoImport.
 1. If it does not appear in the list it has not been installed on this computer - refer article Installing LeaseControl Importer.
2. Check if it is available from the Start menu (refer the Windows icon in the bottomleft of your screen) > Maxwell GeoServices > MAXAGEOImporter (note: not MAXGEOImporter.chm).
 1. If this does not exist, the Importer has not been installed on this computer for this Windows user log-in - refer article 'Installing LeaseControl Importer'.
3. If it does exist, right-click it and select more > open file location and confirm there is a MAXAGeoImport shortcut (no, MAXGEOImport.chm is not the one you want).
 1. If a file explorer window doesn't open, or an error is generated - the installation was not completed - refer article 'Installing the LeaseControl Importer'.
4. Right-click the MAXAGEOImport shortcut and select Properties to open the Properties window. In the "Shortcut" tab, have a look at the "Start in" field. Correct value is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxwell GeoServices\MAXGeoImport\"
 1. If this is not the path, the Importer was not installed in the default location, therefore you can only open it from the Start menu, not from within LeaseControl. If this is not you want, you will need to uninstall/reinstall LeaseControl - refer article 'Installing the LeaseControl Importer'.
5. Go to the path stated in the "Start in" field and look for "Maxwell.Applications.MAXGeoImport.exe".
 1. If the folder doesn't exist - installation was not completed on this computer for this user - refer article 'Installing the LeaseControl Importer'.
 2. If the file doesn't exist in the folder - installation or uninstallation was not complete - refer article 'Installing the LeaseControl Importer'.
6. Go back to the Start menu and open the MAXAGEOImport from here.
 1. If it generates the same error - the installation was not completed - refer article 'Installing the LeaseControl Importer'.
 2. If it generates a new error - refer above **Symptoms**.
 3. If this opens successfully - the installation was not completed (specifically, the link between the LeaseControl main applicatio and the Importer) - refer article 'Installing the LeaseControl Importer'. In the meantime, you can open it from the Start menu.

**Additional Information:**

- *How do I check my computer applications?* Depending on your version of Windows, one of the following means:
 - In Cortana (the search beside the Windows icon in the bottom left of your screen) type "Programs" and select "Add or Remove Programs".
 - From the Windows icon select the settings icon (the cog icon) on the lefthand side of the menu, then in the new window select "Apps".
