<u>**Problem:**</u>

1. When creating Action Alerts from within Agreement Configurations, an error is returned reading:
  - "Aparent" and your LeaseControl version is 1.8.0. - refer **Troubleshooting 3**.
  - "Aparent" and your LeaseControl version is not 1.8.0 - refer **Troubleshooting 1**.

<u>**Troubleshooting:**</u>

1. Click on a different Action Configuration for a moment, to confirm the Configuration is not coloured bright green - which would indicate this was configured in a Parent object in the hierarchy.
  - If it is green (i.e. configured in a Parent object in the hierarchy) - refer **Cause 1**.
2. Try resetting the grid then try again.  To reset the grid, right-click in the grey area just above the column headers (where it says "Group By" or where you have dragged headers to if you have enabled grouping) and select "Reset".
  - If this has resolved the issue and you want more information - refer **Cause 2**.
3. Look at the properties of the .exe in use and check the "Created" date.  To obtain these properties: from the computer that is incurring the error, go to [C:\Program Files (x86)\Maxwell GeoServices\](file:///C:/Program%20Files%20(x86)/Maxwell%20GeoServices/) select the software version in use, then the LeaseControl.exe file (an application, not the ICO file - which has a similar name).
  - If your version is 1.8.0 and the "Created" date is prior to 24-Jul-2018 - refer **Cause 3**.

<u>**Cause:**</u>

1. An Action Configuration can only be edited (including Email Alerts) in the hierarchy object in which it was created - refer **Solution 1**.
2. Grids can be manipulated based on user preference (such as ordering, sorting, grouping, etc.) and sometimes (usually when first upgrading) this can affect certain changes coming through to the grid.  Once the grid has be reset, there is reason to believe it will reoccur.
3. V1.8.0 contained a bug for which a patch was issued and it appears the patch hasn't been applied to this computer - refer **Solution 2**.

<u>**Solution:**</u>

1. In the hierarchy, select the parent, and then its parent, etc. until you locate where the Action Configuration was created.  Once you locate it, you can then perform the function of editing the Email Alerts here.
2. Contact servicedesk.maxgeo.com with a screenshot of the error and advise of what version of LeaseControl you are running.

<u>**Further Information:**</u>

- <u>*How do I know what version of LeaseControl I am running?*</u>  Please refer to the related article "[What version of LeaseControl am I using?](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1263370286)"
- <u>*What is a, "Object", "Parent", "Child" and "Hierarchy"?*</u>  The "Hierarchy" is in the lefthand panel of Configuration Settings where you see the Agreement Types.  Each of these Agreement Types and (as of V1.8.0) Groups are referred to as "objects".  Where you can open or collapse one of the objects, this is a "Parent" and the Objects that are revealed / hidden by this function are the "Children" of the Parent.  As of V1.8.0, Actions Configurations could be created in a Parent.  When this is done, the Action Configuration applies to all Children - including Children  or Children, etc.  This is application is oftern referred to as "cascading" Action Configurations.  Where the Action Configuration appears in the Children, it is coloured bright green so that you know it was configured in a Parent.  In the Parent it will not be bright green - instead it will be an ordinary grid colour.
