<u>**Objective:**</u>

1. I want to setup Email Alerts for the first time - refer **Instructions Step 2** only.
2. We have created a new Email Server, and I need Email Alerts to work with this new Server - refer **Instructions Step 1** only.
3. The name of the Email Server has been changed, and I need Email Alerts to work with this new name - refer **Instructions Step 1** only.
4. Nothing about the Email Server is changed - I simply want to turn Email Alerts on/off for a specific database - refer **Instructions Step 3** through to the end.

<u>**Helpful Info First:**</u>

For Email Alerts to work, your LeaseControl database must be able to 'talk' to your email server.  For this reason, to setup Email Alerts, you need to ask your IT team for the address of the Email server.

<u>**Instructions:**</u>

<span style="color: #bf2600">**Step 1 **</span><span style="color: #bf2600">and </span><span style="color: #bf2600">**2**</span><span style="color: #bf2600"> of these instructions are required to be implemented within SQL Management Studio.  This should be conducted by a person appropriately trained and experienced with SQL.  If you do not have such a person, please contact servicedesk.maxgeo.com for assistance.</span>

1. If you only need to edit the setup of the existing Email Alerts:
  - You will need to edit the Account setup for LeaseControl Email Alerts within SQL Management Studio to reflect the new Email Server name.
  - (<u>*If you are running SQL Server 2000*</u>) You will need to edit the Server name in the software via the Settings Menu, then "Email Alerts".
2. Follow the instructions in the "LeaseControl Alerts Setup Guide" which a .pdf document that is contained within the LeaseControl installer file, under "Extras" then "LeaseControl Alerts".
3. Open up the LeaseControl software, and the database in question.
4. From the "Settings" menu select "Email Alerts", noting you will asked for the Administrator password.
5. **To turn Email Alerts ON**
  - Tick the box "Use action alerts".
  - <u>*(If you are running SQL Server 2000)*</u> Enter the address of the email server into the box "SMTP Server".
6. **To turn Email Alerts OFF**
  - Untick the box "Use action alerts"
7. Press OK to close the window and save.

<u>**What to do next:**</u>

- Enter valid email addresses against each contact in the Contacts Module.
- Configure Email Alerts against each relevant Action.
