<u>**Objective:**</u>

1. I'm considering upgrading my SQL Server instace, which hosts the LeaseControl database.
2. I'm installing a new SQL Server instance to host the LeaseControl database.

<u>**Details:**</u>

- Minimum SQL Server requirement is 2008 R2.
- Compatibility of V1.8.0 is through to SQL2017 (email alert testing in progress).
- Earlier versions have not been found incompatible thus far through to SQL2017.
- The free version of SQL Server is sufficient, unless you wish to use the built-in Email Alert system - in which case you will require a full SQL Server version.

<u>**Relevant Instructions:**</u>

- Please always undertake thorough testing, including accessibility, running of scripts and running backups and restorations.
- If the location of the SQL Server, or the name of the SQL Server or LeaseControl database has changed, you will need to re-direct the LeaseControl software to this new location / name.
  - We would recommend this occurs prior to terminating the existing connection.  This permits testing without disrupting the Users LeaseControl access.
