**Problem:**

1. I know there's a problem with opening this particular database - I need to switch to another database but can't open LeaseControl to do that - refer **Solution 5**.
2. You have encountered one of the following Copyminder errors:
 - 34 - refer **Cause 4**.
 - 641 - "You have reached the limit on the maximum number of simultaneous users of this program" - refer related article "[Concurrent User Limits on Licenses](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SMAR/pages/1066401797)" however if this doesn't work please refer **Troubleshooting 3**.
3. You have encountered one or more of the following error when trying to open LeaseControl:
 - "Error -20147217900 occurred in module MTenements:LoadTenements. Error Description as follows: invalid column name "TENEMT_LastUpdateUser". Refer **Cause 3**.
 - "You have reached the expiry date for this license key". Refer related article "[Licensing Error: You have reached the expiry date for this licence key](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1263370303)".
 - "Cannot open LeaseControl as the database cannot be found or is corrupt" - refer **Troubleshooting 1** and work your way through.
 - "The database version is different from the application version." Refer related article "[Managing LeaseControl Versions](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1262911540)".
 - "The database version is not the same as the application version." Refer related article "[Managing LeaseControl Versions](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1262911540)".
 - "...The SELECT permission was denied on the object 'LMS_SYSOPT_SystemOption, databaes..." Refer related article "[Managing LeaseControl Versions](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1262911540)".
 - "Error occured accessing language directoy:C:\\LANG\" - the .exe file is not where it should be - refer related article "[Applying LeaseControl patches](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1264025628)".
4. The follow error was generated when I tried to view data / save data edits: "The callee (server [not server application]) is not available and disappeared; all connections are invalid."

**Troubleshooting:**

1. If you have LeaseControl software installed on another computer, try using this computer to access the troublesome database.
2. From the troublesome computer(s) hosting the software, try pinging the server (or other computer hosting the database).
 - If both Troubleshooting 1 and 2 fail - refer **Cause 6**.
 - Otherwise - try **Solution 5**.
3. Go to CopyMinder and review the number of maximum Users and the number of current Users - for assistance refer related article "[How do I check the status of my Licences?](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1263796256)".
 - If the number of current Users matches the number of maximum Users - refer **Cause 8**.
4. Check they are using the Licence Key you think they are - for assistance refer related article "[Confirming the License Key in use](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1263435817)", the repeat **Troubleshooting 3** above.
5. Have everyone exit of out LeaseControl and go back in (the relevant Users can be identified in CopyMinder - for assistance refer related article "[How do I check the status of my Licences?](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1263796256)").
 - If this resolves your issue it's a little strange. If it keeps happening, please contact [servicedesk.maxgeo.com](http://servicedesk.maxgeo.com) to ensure we are aware and can liaise with CopyMinder for a solution.
 - If this does not resolve your issue - contact servicedesk.maxgeo.com

**Cause:**

1. A change to the system, usually a platform (e.g. Windows) update or software (e.g. LeaseControl) update has triggered a validation of permissions, or otherwise permissions have been affected. Refer **Solution 3**. If this does not resolve the error, refer **Solution 1**.
2. You have insufficient permissions to run the program. refer to **Solution 2**.
3. Your database structure has been changed, and LeaseControl is unable to detect the required fields. Refer **Solution 3**. If this does not resolve the error, refer **Solution 4**.
4. LeaseControl licencing program (CopyMinder) cannot reach the CopyMinder server. This is required to ensure that the LeaseControl licence is valid - refer** **related article "Troubleshooting CopyMinder internet issues".
5. Usually this is case of the connection between the software and the database being disrupted, but otherwise something has affected the database in a manner that stops the software connecting to the database. Refer ot the related article "[Connectivity Error](https://maxgeo.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/LC/pages/1263370316)".
6. The network connection between the computers has been disrupted. This may be due to permissions, connectivity or the computer being shut down. Refer **Solution 6**.
7. Your connection to the SQL Database has dropped out - refer **Solution 7**.

**Solution:**

1. Close LeaseControl, the error window and any other windows (confirm all closed via CTRL+ALT+DEL), then run LeaseControl again - this time as an administrator. Thereafter, you should be able to open LeaseControl as per normal (i.e. not as administrator).
 - If you cannot run LeaseControl as an administrator, refer **Solution 2**.
 - If you find that moving forward you can only open LeaseControl as an administrator (i.e., thereafter you still can't open LeaseControl as per normal), refer **Cause 2**.
2. Your IT will need to provide your Windows User will sufficient permissions. If assistance is required, please contact us at [servicedesk.maxgeo.com](http://servicedesk.maxgeo.com)
3. Close and reopen LeaseControl.
4. We need a copy of your database so we can provide the resolution, and the review how the issue came about. Contact us at [servicedesk.maxgeo.com](http://servicedesk.maxgeo.com) if you require SFTP details for upload of the your database.
5. Close all LeaseControl screens (check this is done via CTRL+ALT+DEL), then delete the file C:\Program Files\LeaseControl\DBSettings.cfg, then try opening LeaseControl again. You should be able to navigate to another database, but if this does not resolve the issue, please refer to other **Problems** in this article for a symptom that cannot be resolved by selection of this alternate database.
6. Contact your IT team to resolve the connectivity / permissions error. Resolving the issue is outside of standard software technical support, and ordinarily an external party is not provided sufficient permissions to resolve many issues. That said, if you do require additional support, please contact [sales@maxgeo.com](mailto:sales@maxgeo.com) to make arrangements.
7. Close and reopen LeaseControl. This will cause the LeaseControl software to reestablish it's connection. If this does not resolve the error, however, start at **Troubleshooting 1** and work your way through.
