Introduction	

LogChief Lite is a “ready to use” or customizable data capture application for use on laptops or tablets. It is designed to simplify collection and management of field data associated with drilling and sampling. Collected data is directly synchronized into your master database.

Start Page

Click on the play icon on the LogChief Lite home page. This will open the login page.

Enter the Username and Password assigned to you by maxgeo and click on the LOGIN icon.

User Settings

A first-time login requires the user to select a database from the dropdown menu. Click on the Save icon once the database has been selected. This will take the user to the Logging Menu.

Install LogChief Lite

To start using LogChief Lite in an environment where the logging device has limited or no internet connection, the application can be installed on the logging device. Many web browsers such as Google Chrome and Edge will have an install LogChief Lite option.

By installing the application on the logging device, a desktop icon will be created and LogChief Lite can be used in remote areas with no internet connection without losing functionality. Only uploading and downloading of data to the master database or refreshing libraries will still require an internet connection.

Main Menu

To view the main menu, click on the  icon.

The options in the main menu can be used to navigate through LogChief Lite, provide information on the software, or logout.

Online/Offline

LogChief Lite can show the user if it has an internet connection at the top right of the screen. A green light indicates connection to the internet whereas a red light indicates no connection to the internet.

Logging Menu

The Logging Menu has several logging templates as standard that can be used for logging and synchronizing data. Use the mouse cursor to drag and scroll through the templates or by using the dots at the bottom of the page. Click on an icon to open the logging template.

Manage Data

The Manage Data template allows the user to download from and upload to the master database. The Refresh Libraries option refreshes the libraries and any updates in the templates.

The   icon will allow the user to create a new hole.

The  icon will delete all selected holes.

Logging Templates

The logging menu has several standard logging templates. Click on a logging template icon to open the logging grid. From here the user can select holes that exist in the Manage Data template or create holes by clicking on the  icon in the Hole ID box.

Once a hole is selected or created, the user can start logging in any of the logging grids by selecting an icon on the left.

The   icon will allow the user to create a new row in the logging grid.

The   icon will delete all selected rows.

The   icon will allow you to create multiple rows at once by opening the Multiple Rows Configuration screen:

In the example above, we have entered a Starting Depth of 1, and Ending Depth of 10 and an Increment of 1. Clicking the ‘Add Rows’ button will create 10 new rows to the logging grid with the Depth values automatically calculated, and the remaining fields as specified in the Default Values section, as seen below:

Right-clicking on any row in the grid will display a context button. Selecting the   icon will create a new row by copying all data from the selected row (except for the depth, which must be entered manually).

QC Policies

LogChief Lite allows the user to set up a QC policy for a logging template that collects sample data. To enter a QC policy, select the sample tab on the left to open the samples logging grid and click on   next to the   icon. This will open the Sampling Configurations screen. Now select QC Policies.

Select if this will be Policy 1 or Policy 2 from the drop-down list. Once selected the user can set the Duplicates, Blanks and Standards based on sample suffix or frequency. Tick the box for each to be used and select if the QC policy is to apply to max depth or to apply to certain intervals. Once completed the Apply QC Policy box must be ticked before saving the policy.

Sampling Defaults

To create multiple rows in the sampling logging grid, click on   next to the   icon. This will open the Sampling Configurations screen. Now select Defaults.

From here the user can set the default for all mandatory logging fields. Click on Save once completed.

Generate Intervals and QC

Once the QC Policies and Defaults have been set, the user can generate intervals and QC by selecting the   icon. The user can enter a starting depth and ending depth or leave these fields blank to generate intervals to the max depth of the hole. Once generated, the sampling logging grid will have the samples and any selected QC policy showing in a single grid, the QC policy will be highlighted in a colour.

Templates

LogChief lite allow users with administration rights to edit or create logging templates. Once these templates have been saved all other devices using LogChief Lite with an internet connection can upload these by selecting the   option.

Manage Templates

Select Templates from the main menu to open the Manage Templates page. This page will show all existing logging templates.

By selecting one of the templates, the tables used are shown and the administrator can change the table order and tab name.

By clicking on a table listed below the template name, the administrator can edit various settings such as:

- Column order: horizontal order of the fields in the logging grid
- Visible: will this field be visible in the logging grid
- Column Name: change the column header in the logging grid
- Mandatory: select fields to become mandatory, some fields are already mandatory as set in the master database and cannot be unticked
- Default Value: for certain fields a default value can be selected from the drop-down list

Edit Template

To add new tables to the existing template, the administrator must select the   icon. This will open the Create New Template page.

By clicking on the   icon, the administrator can select a table available from the master database. Once selected the table can be given a tab name and table order. Once table(s) are selected and named the administrator can submit the changes. The table(s) is now added to the template and can be further edited by following previous steps on Manage Templates.

Add New Template

To create a new logging template, the administrator must select the   icon in Manage Templates. This will open the Create New Template page.

From here the administrator must select the template type, name, and description. With the   icon all required tables can be added to this new template. Click on Submit to save the new template. Now the new template can be edited to suit logging requirements.
