## How do I install the LogChief Lite (LGL) application, and why is it necessary?

LGL can be installed on any device via a browser that supports Progressive Web Applications (PWA), such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. Simply visit the LGL webpage, where you will see an icon in the URL bar to install the app. Alternatively, you can install the app by navigating through the browser's options menu and selecting the 'Install' or 'Add to Home Screen' option.

The benefit of installing the application is the ability to access it while offline. If you close the browser while offline, you will not be able to reopen the webpage until reconnected to the internet. However, with the installed app, icons populate, and functionality remains accessible offline, offering uninterrupted use.

## What is the best device for using LogChief Lite?

Any device with an internet connection and a screen size larger than 10.1 inches is recommended for LGL. The application functions equally well on touchscreen devices and PCs and is compatible with any browser that supports Progressive Web Applications.

## Can LGL collect all types of data?

Currently, LGL supports the collection of Downhole, Point and Production type data. Future developments will include support for Linear and Face Logging data types.

## How do I apply for additional LGL licenses?

To request more licenses, users can visit the maxgeo webpage and navigate to Software > Administration > Licensing to complete the application form. Alternatively, DataShed5 Admin users can request additional licenses directly within the DS5 Admin interface.

## Why don’t my QC policies automatically insert into my sample intervals?

If your Sample ID field is set as non-mandatory in your LGLiteDHSampling table settings, the QC policies cannot insert based on a Suffix, but only by frequency. This is because the Suffix option requires Sample ID names to determine where to insert the QCs. Without defined Sample IDs, there is nowhere to insert the QCs. To insert QC policies according to a Suffix, your Sample ID field must be set as mandatory.

Another reason could be that the ‘Apply QC Policy’ checkbox hasn't been selected and saved in the Sampling Configurations page under the QC Policies tab. Also, ensure that the checkboxes for Duplicates, Blanks, and Standards are correctly set to be included according to your policy.

## Can I create planned collars in LGL?

No, users cannot create planned collars in LGL directly. These must be imported or manually created in DS5. However, users can download planned collars from tblDHCollPlanned in the 'Manage Data' page, allowing them to log data to planned collars. Once a planned collar gets reuploaded to the database, its data will be distributed accordingly to tblDHColl and tblDHSurv.

## Can I edit which fields are visible in the "Add New Record" page?

No, users cannot modify the fields visible in the 'Add New Record' screen when creating a new Hole/Site ID. These fields are hardcoded and can only be edited by maxgeo upon request.

## Why doesn’t my LGL have the Production type templates?

If your database doesn't include Production type tables, you won't have access to Production type templates.

## Why should I use LGLiteDHSampling for sampling?

LGLiteDHSampling is the primary view for sample logging in LGL. It allows for the generation of intervals, QC policies, and Sample IDs, distributing data across DHSamp, DHSampQC, and StandardSamp tables in the MDS. Using tblDHSamp directly in LGL is not necessary as LGLiteDHSampling provides additional functionalities, including exporting sample sheets from the logging grid, and the auto generation of predefined sampling defaults and QC policy insertion.

## How do I add a new column to a table I want to log to?

Adding a new column requires modifications to the MDS database, which cannot be done directly within LogChief Lite. Please contact your maxgeo DBA or submit a ticket to the maxgeo service desk for assistance.

## How are updates performed, and what do I need to do as a user?

All of maxgeo’s Cloud and Cloud Admin clients’ updates are automatically pushed to users when connected to the internet. A notification will appear in the application, prompting users to upgrade to the latest version. Simply click the notification to complete the update. On-Prem clients will need to request an upgrade from maxgeo.

## Why can’t I add tblDHColl to my templates?

DHColl data is managed in the 'Manage Data' page. Users can create new Hole/Site IDs by clicking the plus symbol. Collar data can also be downloaded from the MDS database by selecting tblDHColl or tblDHCollPlanned in the download options.

## Why can’t I change the Depth Intervals after uploading them to the MDS?

Depth Intervals are treated as Primary Keys in many MDS tables and cannot be updated within the application. Changes must be made directly in the database via DataShed5 or SQL Server Management Studio (SMSS). Other fields, such as Lithology or Mineralisation, can be updated after uploading.

## Can I use LogChief Lite offline?

Yes, LGL allows users to log Downhole, Point and Production data offline using templates created by an administrator. However, you need to be online to upload or download data from DataShed5 and to manage templates. The user guide and release notes will also not be available offline. In order for LogChief Lite to store your credentials for offline login, you must first login whilst online.

## Do all users have the same permissions in LogChief Lite?

No, there are two user roles in LGL: Admin and User. Administrators can access the 'Manage Templates' page to create, edit, and delete templates. User roles and permissions are administered within DataShed5 Admin.

## If multiple users use the same device with different login credentials, can they continue working on the same data?

Yes, data is stored on the logging device and is accessible regardless of individual users. Any synchronised data can be accessed by all users who download it. User permissions to specific datasets are managed in DataShed5.

## Can two users on separate devices create the same Hole/Site ID and upload data from different tables without conflict?

Yes, if the collar data on each device is identical, and they have not logged data to the same tables that conflicts with any Primary Keys, the data will upload without any issues.

## Is it possible to copy and paste cells from Excel into LogChief Lite and vice versa?

No, this is not possible yet. maxgeo may develop this functionality in the future.

## Can I change the dark theme mode to a light theme mode?

Yes, all users can change the theme mode in versions 1.2 and above. To change the theme mode, click on the white burger menu in the top right corner and then select Preference in the left-hand pane. You can then click on the slider to switch between a light and dark mode theme.

## Can I make my username a default for Logged_by and Sampled_By fields?

Yes, users can have their usernames set as a default for the Logged_By and Sampled_By fields. Admin users will first need to set this default up in the Manage Templates page. The default’s dropdown selection will include userName(). This can be selected for the field for the username to populate. Please note that the username will need to exist in tblLIBPerson for the records to upload to the MDS database.

## Are there any shortcuts I can use in LogChief Lite?

Yes, there are six keyboard shortcuts that can be used in the template logging grids.

- **Alt + h -** Navigate to Logging Menu (Home) Page.
- **Alt + m** - Navigate to Manage Data Page.

The following shortcuts are activated when a header data (Hole_ID, Site_ID, etc) has been selected except in the Material Movement Page where it will automatically apply to the logging grid.

- **Alt + n **- Add New Row.
- **Alt + s **- Save Activate (edit mode) Row.
- **Alt + t **- Navigate/scroll through the logging table tabs.
- **Alt + c **- Copy the last record in logging grid

## Can I import/export data to/from LogChief Lite?

Data in LogChief Lite can only be exported in the Manage Data page. There is no option to import data. All users can either select the specific records checkbox then click on ‘Export Selected Rows to Excel’, or they can choose to export all data visible in the grid in the Manage Data Page by clicking on the ‘Export All Data to Excel’ option. Both options will automatically download an Excel file to your device’s download folder containing all the selected Parent record data, along with all their children table data.

## Can I change a dataset, Hole or Site ID after I have created it?

Yes, all users are able to change the dataset, Hole or Site IDs of existing parent records, even after the record has been uploaded to the database. The change will copy over all existing data to the new dataset or ID. The original will still exist in the database if it was uploaded prior to the change. Syncing the new parent will still follow the MDS rules. Additionally, the Historic_Hole/Site_ID field will populate with the original ID. The comments field will populate with a history of changes made to the parent record.

## Who or where can I submit features to that I want in LogChief Lite?

LogChief Lite v1.2 and above includes a link to the maxgeo Feature Request Board in the main menu options. Users can submit features for each of maxgeo’s products that they would like developed. Users can also vote on submitted features from other users. Features with the most votes will be prioritised for development.

## Can I hide templates from users in LogChief Lite?

Yes, admin users can easily hide templates from the logging menu and left-hand tree view in the Manage Templates page by checking or unchecking the Is_Active checkbox in the Manage Templates page. Unfortunately, this is not user specific and will apply to everyone connected to the same database.

## How do I record coordinates in LogChief Lite if I have MDS5?

When using Maxwell Data Schema (MDS) version 5, coordinate handling differs from the previous MDS466 structure where coordinates were captured in the DHColl table in the Manage Data page. In MDS5, users must record their coordinates in the separate DHCoordinates table rather than through the DHColl table in the Manage Data page. Once uploaded, coordinate data in this table is automatically transformed according to the schema requirements.
