> ⚠️ While it is technically possible to install and run LogChiefLite offline by manually trusting the source in the browser settings, this approach is not recommended for security reasons. Using a valid SSL certificate ensures that all communications between your browser and the application are encrypted, protecting data from interception or tampering. Manually trusting an unverified source bypasses these safeguards, leaving your system vulnerable to malicious code, data breaches, or compromised updates. Valid SSL certificates are issued by trusted authorities and provide assurance that the site’s identity is authentic and its content is secure, whereas trusting an unverified source removes these protections and introduces unnecessary risk to both users and systems.
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ maxgeo always recommend using a valid SSL certificate with all maxgeo products. LogChiefLite cannot work on a Self Sign certificate.
> ⚠️
> ⚠️ **This only work when using an IP and PORT for LogChiefLite connecitons.**

> Macro (toc)

LogChiefLite requires a service worker to run offline. a service worker requires a secure HTTPS connection

When using LogChiefLite on an insecure connection, eg HTTP or an invalid or expired certificate, the Service Worker that is required for offline login will be unavailable

## Android

Must have Google Chrome App installed on device.

Follow the same steps outlined above using the installed Chrome app to allow insecure origins treated as secure.

Go to android device settings >> Apps >> Chrome >> Install Unknown Apps >> Enable allow permission.

The LGL app can now be downloaded and installed on the device.

## iOS

> ⚠️ Unavailable for iOS devices. A valid SSL certificate is required

You cannot allow the installation of a PWA from an insecure source on iOS, as Apple requires all Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) to be served over HTTPS to be installable. This is a security measure to protect users. To install a PWA, you must use a secure connection and follow the standard process of navigating to the site in Safari, tapping the share icon, and selecting "Add to Home Screen".
