To import a Configuration and the associated Profiles:

1. Select the Configuration (XML file) to import in the Configuration browser Any Logging Profiles and data files located in the same folder will automatically be selected to import.
2. Enter a name for the configuration. This will also be the name of your new configuration database.
3. Click "Browse..." to select the MDS database associated with the configuration. (In case if there are no database backup available with exported configuration). If importing onto a field computer which will not have a network server connection while logging then make sure that the MDS Database Connection is made to the Server Configuration. In case of database backup available, LogChief doesn't check for schema even if you change the database using browse option.
4. Click Ok to begin the import.

***Note:**** If importing a configuration made in SQL 2012 into a machine with SQL 2008, you should remove the database file as it will be incompatible and result in an error. In this case a live connection to the Main Database will be required.*

<span style="color: #0000ff">**Import Configuration is capable of importing configuration which is made using LogChief 2.2 or later version.**</span>

Importing Configuration from v2.2 or v3.0 is required lot of considerations, specially if it is using Database Views with Custom Layouts. Please contact maxgeo before doing it.

**Note** – If you are importing a configuration which is not from LogChief v3.1.3.1. Please follow the process

1. Make back up of exported configuration folder
2. During the import process if you change your mind to not to import or you get any error, please delete this folder and restore the backed up folder. This is very important as LogChief does some process on old Configuration files and save the files. If you use same file again, LogChief treats these files as upgraded files and doesn’t do any data modification operations, which is very important for old configuration to work properly
