Administrators (**with at least Read rights to Configurations**) can export the Configuration and all its Logging Profiles to XML files which will allow other users to import the Configuration and Profiles into different LogChief instances. This function is used for copying the 'maxgeo_Demo_Configuration' from one computer to another.

The current user will need to be part of the Administrators group (**with at least Read rights to Configurations**) to Export Configuration. To import, the user will also require sufficient permissions** **on the Local SQL Server. Talk to your IT specialist or DBA if you are unsure of your SQL permissions.

To navigate to the Export Configuration screen, see image below:

Fill in all the necessary fields to export the Configuration:

**Configuration:** Select the Configuration to export from the dropdown box.

**Export path:** Select a path to export the Configuration to. Multiple files will be created so create a directory or folder just for the current Configuration. Due to SQL limitations, the file path must be located through local '**C:**' drive (i.e. not on a shared network server or on the desktop).

**Logging Profile(s):** all Logging Profiles will automatically appear here. Select whether you wish to export a Profile or not by checking the box under 'Export'.

To export Configurations and Logging Profiles:

1. Select the configuration to export in the Configuration dropdown
2. Select a path to export the configuration and Logging Profiles to
3. Choose which Logging Profiles to export with the Configuration
4. Click OK to begin the export

The Export Tool creates a separate XML file for each Configuration and Logging Profile and a backup file (.bak) for the Configuration database.

Below are the files that were generated as part of the Export Configuration.
