Intercept calculation in DataShed is based on a weighted average with the following parameters:

Formula for weighted average of grade is:

x=(a<sub>1</sub>b<sub>1</sub>+a<sub>2</sub>b<sub>2</sub>+a<sub>3</sub>b<sub>3</sub>)/ (a<sub>1</sub>+a<sub>2</sub>+a<sub>3</sub>)

Where:           x=weighted average of intercept

a=sample interval length

b=grade if sample interval

 

The other parameters are stated in the DH intercepts table:

**Grade:** The weighted average of the grade over the entire intercept length including waste.

**Intercept Description:** the length of the intercept and the Grade

 

**Minimum Cutoff Grade**: The grade value used as the minimum cutoff is the lowest grade that will be used in the intercept calculation.

 

***Maximum Cutoff Grade***: This is the highest value to be used in the intercept calculation. Any value that is higher than the maximum cutoff grade will be treated as this grade ie an interval that is 120 ppm will be treated as 100 ppm.

 

***Minimum Interval***: This is the narrowest width of a significant intersection taking into account the maximum waste width.

 

***Maximum Waste***: This is* *the greatest allowable consecutive interval that has grade lower than the minimum cutoff grade.
