# Overview

maxgeo provides direct access to your database through Amazon WorkSpaces Applications(formally AppStream)

Amazon WorkSpaces Applications is a non persistent desktop. Any files or settings change not the desktop are not saved once the session has been terminated. Amazon WorkSpaces Applications can be access through a browser or by using the Amazon WorkSpaces Applications desktop application  

If you would like direct access to your database please log a ticket through the support and ticketing tab at the top of the page. 

# Accessing Amazon WorkSpaces Applications(formally AppStream)

During the onboarding process you will receive an automated email from AWS ([no-reply@accounts.ap-southeast-2.amazonappstream.com](mailto:no-reply@accounts.ap-southeast-2.amazonappstream.com)) and from maxgeo IT Support with access details and requirements.

*NB: please check your junk mail if you don't receive the automated AWS email in your inbox*

AWS will send two emails.

1. Username and Password
  
2. Link to Amazon WorkSpaces Applications

the link can be accessed either via the browser or by using the Amazon WorkSpaces Applications desktop app. Desktop Application Download: [https://clients.amazonappstream.com/](https://clients.amazonappstream.com/) 

# SQL Server Credentials

maxgeo will securely share your SQL Authenticated username, password and connection string. Please save these details and the link only be available once. you will be prompted to enter you email and verification code to gain access

# File Persistence and OneDrive access

# SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)

1. Open SSMS using the desktop icon
2. Enter the “Server Name”(SQL server connection string provided by maxgeo), Set Authentication to SQL Server Authentication and the username and password provided by maxgeo and check the “Trust server certificate” option.


# QAQCr

1. Open the QAQCr application from the desktop icon
2. If prompted select the “Microsoft OLE DB Driver for SQL Server”
3. Then select the “Connection” tab  
Enter the “Server Name”, Set Authentication to SQL Server Authentication, databasename and the username and password provided by maxgeo
4. Press OK


# File Transfers

Once in the Amazon WorkSpaces Applications session files can be transferred to and from the session.

1. Select “My Files”: at the top of the session
2. select the Home folder
  
3. Drag any required files to the window to upload
4. The uploaded files will be located in the “Home Folder” in the session
